Passage V
Passage V
black porcelain – 2025
This long, low form is the most overtly figural of the series so far. Sculpted in black porcelain, Passage V unfurls from a flattened, vaginal base and resolves into a compressed humanoid figure resting at the head. Between the ends, a tapering body of ridges, cavities, and scored ornamentation suggests both mechanical housing and fleshy segments, repeating and distorting as if pressed through ritual. The figure appears to lie in a state of inwardness or return, cradled by the curving substrate beneath it. Across its length, textured bands, glyphs, and perforations seem to function like prayers or inscriptions—recording something vital and encrypted into the body of the piece itself. Passage V holds devotional weight. It is less ornamental than its predecessors and more sculpturally solemn, appearing less like a commodity and more like an offering. This is a reliquary for the libido’s retraction, a witness to the transformation of desire into form, rest, and encoded meaning.
